I have been reminiscing and thinking about when I was a kid in the 70’s. I remember everyone I knew had one of those dyed “lucky” rabbit’s foot and they were always the gift of choice at kid’s birthday parties. Even at that age I didn’t understand why this was considered a desirable thing. I felt bad for the rabbit and thought about the circumstances around its demise for a foot….These thoughts and the memory of the rabbit foot fad brought me to this sand cast sterling silver pheasants foot that sports a bezel and tab set vintage doll’s eye with a set of hand fabricated antlers. The one side of the foot has a row of multi colored pearls while the other has a bezel set Baltic Amber. The brooch is worn using the handmade sterling silver and 18 gauge spring steel mechanism. The piece measures approximately 4” from top of antler to tip of toe and 1.75” at widest across the antlers. The brooch is signed, hallmarked and dated 2024.
