Recently I acquired a piece of stingray leather and it has the most incredible texture of patterned circular bumps on the surface. I decided to use a bit of the leather to roller print that texture onto a heavy gauge copper blank and this is the result. Roller printing onto metal is this miraculous technique that doesn’t seem like it should work but always does. Sandwiching the metal and the texture (whatever it may be from a leaf to a piece of lace, or in this case textured leather) between two pieces of brass and running the whole stack through a metal smithing tool called a rolling mill applies incredible pressure and imprints the texture into the surface of the metal. I echoed the shape of the stingray in the small riveted on central brass detail and cantilevered a bezel set turquoise into the similarly shaped opening in the side of the cuff. The cuff measures 6” long with a 7/8” gap and is 1.75” wide everywhere except at the stone where it is 2 and 3/8” wide. The cuff is slightly adjustable in either direction and is signed, hallmarked and dated 2025. Flat rate insured and tracked USPS Ground Advantage shipping or USPS Priority shipping within the US.
